Nora Boesem is the 2007 Outstanding Person of Compassion Award recipient.

Nora was in school to be a teacher and then changed to be a nurse when she was younger. While doing a residency at the local hospital, she decided to dedicate her life to special needs children. So, she became a foster mom through the local social services office. Within a short period of time, she had adopted her first three children; Rachel, Donovan, and Dontae. These three children, who vary in ethnicity and background, have been shining examples of the human spirit. She has currently adopted eight special needs children, all affected by F.A.S. (Fetal Alcohol Syndrome), and is raising them.

Nora also talks to Social Services and other parents of children with various special needs. She specializes with children that have: RADS (Reactive Attachment Disorder), FAS (Fetal Alcohol Syndrome), and other emotional or physiological dysfunctions. Currently, she is working on trying to achieve public awareness of the harmful affects of alcohol and drug abuse on the fetus of pregnant women. Nora is truly a compassionate woman who gives without regard to herself or her own well being. She goes to the aid of the needy and helpless selflessly every day.

Century of Compassion has teamed up with Target Corporation to be able to award Nora Boesem a $150 Target gift card along with her award certificate. Congratulations Nora!
